The 'Login' Screen

Logging in with a registered username will allow the Bad Coffee system to keep track of who posts each message. However, it is possible to use the system annonymously. The 'Login' screen contains three buttons:

  • 'Login' - logs you in to the Bad Coffee system
  • 'Clear' - clears the username and password fields
  • 'Exit' - quits the program

To log in:

  1. Enter a valid username and password into the appropriate fields. To post anonymously, leave each field blank.
  2. Tap the 'Login' button.

The 'Home' Screen

The 'Home' screen contains four buttons:

  • 'Search' - displays the search screen
  • 'Favorites' - shows your list of access point favorites
  • 'Help' - displays online help for Bad Coffee
  • 'Exit' - quits the program

The 'Search' Screen

All messages and related data for each access point is stored on the Bad Coffee server. You can locate access point groups by searching for them by name. This screen has two buttons:

  • 'Search/Load' - searches the online database by name with whatever is entered in the 'Group Name' field
  • 'Home' - returns to the 'Home' screen

To search for a group by name:

  1. From the 'Home' screen, tap the 'Search' button. The program will display the 'Search' screen.
  2. Enter a group name to search for.
  3. Tap the 'Search/Load' button.
  4. If there are no groups matching your request, the program will say so, otherwise, it will display any search results on the screen.
  5. To view more information about a group, select one and tap the 'Select Group' button. The program will advance to the 'Group View' screen.

The 'Group View' screen

This screen displays extended information about an access point group. It appears after selecting an item from the list of search results, and contains either two or three buttons:

  • 'View Messages' - displays the 'Messages' screen for this group
  • 'Add to Favorites' - adds this group to your favorites list (only visible if the current group is not already in your favorites list)
  • 'Home' - returns to the 'Home' screen

The 'Messages' screen

Each message is associated with a particular access point group. The 'Messages' screen displays a list of messages for the previously selected access point group. A message can be posted as a new thread or as a reply to a previous message. Below the list of messages are three buttons:

  • 'Back' - returns to the 'Group View' screen for this group
  • 'Add New Message' - displays the screen for adding a new message to this group
  • 'Select' - displays the full title, poster, and body text of the selected message

To view messages for the current group:

  1. From the 'Group View' screen, tap the 'View Messages' button. The screen will change to the 'Messages' screen.
  2. To view a particular message, select it and tap the 'Select' button. The title, author, and body of the message will be displayed.

To post a new message:

  1. From the 'Group view' screen for the group you wish to post to, tap 'View Messages'.
  2. Tap the 'Add New Message' button to display the 'Post Message' screen.
  3. Enter the body of your message into the text box.
  4. To edit the title of your message, tap the 'Set Message Title' button and enter or edit your message's title in the text box. You can return to editing your message's body by tapping the 'Set Message Body' button.
  5. After entering a title and message, tap the 'Submit' button to upload the message. The program will return to the 'Home' screen.

To reply to a previous message:

  1. From the 'Group view' screen for the group containing the message you wish to reply to, tap 'View Messages'.
  2. Select the message you want to reply to from the list and tap 'Select' to display the full message. (Note: If no messages are in the list, you can only post new messages.)
  3. Tap the 'Reply' button.

From here you can set the message text and title as you would when posting a new message. Note that when replying, the title will already be set to "RE: (message title)", although this is still editable.

The 'Favorites' Screen

You can keep a list of up to ten access point groups in a favorites list for quick access.

To view your list of favorite groups:

  1. From the 'Home' screen, tap the 'Favorites' button.
  2. Any groups that have been added to your favorites list will be displayed as buttons. Tapping a button will switch to the 'Search' screen and copy the selected group name into the search field.
  3. Tap the 'Search/Load' button to find that group.
  4. The program will display the 'Search Results' screen. To view more information about the group, select it and tap the 'Select Group' button. The program will advance to the 'Group View' screen for that group.

To add a group to your favorites list:

  1. First, find the group by searching for it by name.
  2. From the 'Search Results' screen, tap on the "Add to Favorites" button.
