Another thing crossed off the list

I have a tendency to drop off the planet at seemingly random intervals, as anyone who regularly corresponds with me can verify, and then reappear for no apparent reason. What I’m doing during those times is throwing myself at yet another project, fully intending to bring it to completion before my drive disappears, the weather turns sour, or the real world drags me back into itself (or a combination of all three). I’ve recently been working on The Boat and fiddling with my Drupal theme, NoProb, to which I recently added support for drop-down menus. Just today I finished writing a howto article for anyone who might be interested in accomplishing the same feat, although rather than publishing it here, I posted it in the Drupal forums where it has a better chance of being seen by other theme developers. Go and read it if you dare, but be warned, it’s not for those whose eyes glaze over easily. (Next up: finish fixing this Blogger template I’ve been using, or replace it entirely.)

Yes, it is good resumé fodder, but that wasn’t my motivation. Like a cow chewing its cud or a dog marking its territory, it’s just something programmers do.

Man, I need to work on my analogies.
